We are rebranding Local 49 Forklift Credential!

Why? For starters, this credential has had many names such as ‘certification", "assessment", "qualification", "evaluation". Just the names have been confusing in the past. Also, what does "GETTING THE CERT" mean to you, to the powers at be, the contractor, or to OSHA? Surprisingly, they all have different meanings to these groups.

Let’s focus on the future.

What is the rebrand? Start with the term credential.  This is a "qualification, achievement, quality, or aspect of a person's background, especially when used to indicate their suitability for something". This term suits us perfectly moving forward.

Moving forward it will not be arbitrary. The Local 49 Forklift credential will be a combination of the requirements set by OSHA's 1910.178 powered industrial trucks standard and the suggested requirements set by our industry. Attainment of this credential will mean you've been trained to operate forklift, not only in a safety aspect, but also to a performance level set by the Training Center on behalf of the industry.

We set the bar high because we aspire to be the best.

Thank you
